SORRY, THIS CLASS IS SOLD OUT

The Couturier's Cabinet - A Filled 1/12 Scale Baby House Project.

Sign up for our latest online class project and create this stunning cabinet filled with a tiny French Couturier and Hatmakers Salon and work shop.  Furnishings in the cabinet are 1/120 scale.

Students will construct the cabinet from precut wood pieces.  Learn to do transfer work while decorating the front doors with fabulous vintage artwork.  We will provide the artwork and the medium, all you have to do is have fun!  You will love the technique and will find you will want to use it again and again. Cabinet measures 6 3/4" tall by 4 1/2" wide.

The two hinged doors open to reveal a three floor baby house style interior.  Check out the wonderful staircases that connect the floors.  Original wallpaper includes antique window illustrations.  The lower floor includes cabinet, four darling costumed mannequins, two chairs, and a corner display filled with jewelry as well as beautiful framed artwork.

Climb the stairs and enter the second floor of the salon, which houses a darling vanity and chair, and hat pole full of lovely hats.  To the left is a wonderful cabinet with the cutest corset displays you have ever seen.  (Why do things always look so cute when they are tiny???)  Little hatboxes and shopping bags are set here and there throughout the salon.

The third floor contains Madame's sewing studio.  Rolls of silk fabrics hang from the wall and her large cutting table contains the elements of her next creation.  Extra mannequins are stored up here, and of course, she has her fabulous new sewing machine.

Each floor is lit with tiny led chips.  Wiring is easy with our step by step instructions.  The on/off switch for the unit extends out the back side of the cabinet and the coin cell battery is located in one of the cabinet's two working drawers.

As with all of our kits, we make every effort to include everything possible, which means that you need to only purchase paints, and any aerosol products you choose to use.  Tools are minimal, you will need scissors, Xacto, glue, paint brushes, toothpicks, tweezers, etc.  For this project, I highly recommend that you use the chalk paints that I have used to finish the cabinet.  THe transfer medium has been designed to work specifically with the chalk paints, and while it may very well work with other flat, non glossy paints, I can not say, as I have always used it with the chalk paints.  You can use the wax finish, or simply spray a sealer to finish.  The color used for this project is lace, and the chalk paints are available under the tools and supplies section of my website.

Instructions are provided online in an exhaustive tutorial which contains a photo and written instructions for each and every step of the project from start to finish. Space will be limited, so register soon to guarantee your place. Registration will close when class is filled. If you have any questions, drop me an email.  Be sure to check out the photos below.

Tenative ship date for this project is March 10.
