We welcome spring and all its joy with our new online class, which is available in two different versions!
Our project begins with a wonderful 1/12 scale buffet. Made from wood, the piece features the addition of 3d resin printed elements that allow us to add dimension, detail and features that we just can not achieve with wood alone. The wonderfully shaped legs, fabulous rabbit insets and spring floral panels add so much to this piece. Not to mention those darling egg shaped drawer pulls. The buffet has a lovely curved mirror to reflect the wonderful pieces that adorn the top of the piece.
In this version, it's all about those wonderful Victorian figures!
Taking center stage is a fabulous figure of an industrious little chick pushing a wooden wagon. Nestled in the wagon is a lovely egg, filled to overflowing with violets. This was originally an image used on many victorian postcards and greeting cards, which later inspired this wonderful figurine. On either side of the main figure are two wonderful victorian rabbit figures. The first is pushing a cart of flowers. The second is a pair of lovely Victorian rabbits. In the back row is a wonderful egg, with the cutest chick perched on top. The egg is embossed with a Happy Easter Greeting, and looks just fabulous with the addition of some fine glitter. And on the other side stands the sweetest little girl bunny, holding a delicate spray of flowers. . These pieces were carefully chosen to create a beautiful coordinate display of pieces which harmonize in both period and style as well as size. And we think the result is stunning. All of these lovely figures rest on a pretty laser cut doily.
All of the figures are very high quality 3d resin prints, which have been cleaned and primed, ready for you to print with your acrylic paints. I have extensive tutorials on my website for painting our resin figures, including information on techniques as well as the products we have found to work the best. Additionally, specific information to guide you on painting the specific pieces in this project will be included in the tutorial.
We used, and highly recommend the use of chalk paint on the buffet. This will allow you to paint both the wood and resin parts easily and have consistent color throughout the piece. We used a pretty shimmery white wax over the floral plaques, bunny plaques and the knobs, but you could also use acrylic paint and dry brush to bring out the highlights of these wonderful details. Buffet measures 5" across, 4 1/4" high and 1 3/4" deep.
The kit includes all parts and materials needed to complete the project as shown here, including lasercut wood and plexiglas mirror, 3d resin figures and parts. Instructions will be provided in an extensive online tutorial which will include photos and written instruction for each and every step.
No paints, stains, or tools are included in the kit. Students will also need to include glue. A complete list of suggested supplies and tools in included in the tutorial.
